God Rolls - Vault of Glass, Outriders Expansion, Cyberpunk Lawsuit
...stuck in a casual loop which is...
Hi there, welcome back for another installment of God Rolls here as we continue to be in the early glow of a new Destiny season where complaints are at a minimum. I missed VoG day one due to a wedding but I have thoughts anyway! Of course I do.
What I’m Playing: Still Splicer, got most of my god rolls done and the gauntlet finished, but now it’s time to get a VoG team together. And I played some Avengers this week…
What I’m Watching: I saw Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead this weekend which was just okay and did not need to be two hours. I caught up on the Arrowverse shows I missed which is not a good use of time.
Sub to God Rolls if you haven’t yet:
Now, for the recap!
Destiny
Destiny 2’s Reborn Vault Of Glass Is An Unequivocal Hit - We’ll just start with the most obvious story of the week, the return of VoG which actually did go pretty well, it seems.
Destiny 2’s Banned Exotic For Vault Of Glass Is Heading For A Nerf - Destiny banned one exotic from VoG this week and there is no doubt that means it’s going to get hit with the nerf hammer soon.
The Mystery Of Destiny 2’s New Ikora Rey - I interviewed Destiny 2’s new Ikora Rey and I question the weirdness of why neither Bungie nor Gina Torres will officially acknowledge the new voice actress (who is very nice!).
‘Destiny 2’ Is Taking On A Refugee Crisis, Xenophobia And War Crimes In Its New Season - Here I talk about how Destiny is taking on real-world issues with its Splicer storyline.
Other Games
Square Enix Says ‘Outriders’ Is A Hit And Its ‘Next Big Franchise’ - Square Enix, notoriously stingy with praise, is hyping up Outriders as having a big future with them.
‘Call Of Duty: Warzone’ Has Now Banned Half A Million Cheaters - Only several million to go? Still a big number.
Do The ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ Lawsuits Have A Solid Case? - The four biggest Cyberpunk lawsuits have combined into one, and I talk about why they have a pretty solid case.
Multiple Reports Say ‘Starfield’ Not Coming To Xbox In 2021 - Despite earlier rumors, everyone I trust now seems to say this is not happening for sure.

God Rolls - Vault of Glass, Outriders Expansion, Cyberpunk Lawsuit
I kind of think Square-Enix and PCF are getting ahead of themselves with the Outriders sequel and calling this game a "success". "Success" is one of those relative terms. Yes, it probably has lots of downloads and they sold a lot of copies.
However, I think the bigger benchmark for success in the looter genre is whether people stay around for the end-game two months from now. We'll see who is still playing in two months.
Moreover, "success" is not reflected on Metacritic where the professional reviewers have landed around 73/100 but the user scores average 3.8/10.
My experience is that games where the users and professionals diverge so much, the game doesn't do well. For example, Anthem is rated 3.5/10 by users when the pros gave it an average of 54/100 and we all know how that went. (Sidebar: I had some fun with Anthem, just not as much fun as Destiny or Diablo III).
So, I would humbly suggest that it's a bit early to declare this game a "success". Time will tell. :P
Nice round-up this week. Watching the VOG Race was actually a lot of fun. It's almost the way I remember it. I suppose with the new D2 class abilities, stasis, and some of the new exotics a few mechanics had to be added, lest it be too easy.
Season of the Splicer is actually really good. The activity is like a better Contact (from Season of Arrivals), which is fun, match-made and diverse. And auto rifles have anti-barrier this season (finally). The story is amazing with Mithrax.
Basically, for anyone who had put Destiny 2 down for a while, now is a good time to come back. There's more to do and loot to chase. This is already the best season in Beyond Light so far.
