God Rolls - Starfield, Halo, Forza, Guardians, Elden Ring And The Rest Of E3
Did you hear they're making Godfall DLC
Welcome to a week so busy I almost forgot to write this entirely. That would be E3 week 2021, and the show is back along with quasi-adjacent shows like Summer Games Fest, which means news, news and more news. It’s hard to keep up with, but there have been some wild debuts this week and some giant misses as well. But first:
What I’m Playing: NOT DESTINY! For real. I’m playing Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which I highly recommend to everyone even if you’ve never played the series before. I also went back to Genshin Impact to acquire its first character skins.
What I’m Watching: I started Lisey’s Story on Apple which is very weird. I caught up with Mythic Quest which is a genuinely great show now. I watched an Eric Bana movie called The Dry last night which was pretty solid. Oh! And I watched Loki, which was explain-y but still great.
So, let’s dive in, starting with E3 stuff:
E3
‘Starfield’ Is Xbox Exclusive, Has A Release Date, A New Trailer And Fresh Details - Starfield made its debut today with few surprises.
Gearbox May Have Legitimately Had One Of The Worst E3 Shows In History - I am not exaggerating when I say this was an information void of such mammoth proportions it’s hard to remember a worse show since Konami 2010.
Microsoft Is Building Something Sony, Nintendo, Google And Amazon Can’t Match - Microsoft’s announced Xbox ecosystem, which now includes Smart TVs and a standalone streaming unit, is something no one else can touch at the moment.
Behold, A Bunch Of ‘Elden Ring’ Screenshots From The New Gameplay Trailer - This is Erik’s article not mine but I had to feature Elden Ring somewhere! Some great shots here.
Destiny
A Time-Sensitive ‘Destiny 2’ Warning For Splicer Farming - With only three chances a week at the best armor farm in the game, you need to read this sooner rather than later.
‘Destiny 2’ Is Asking Which Old Exotics Players Want Buffed, Here Are 42 - Bungie is asking about which underperforming exotics need some help and uh, I have a lot of ideas.
It’s Time, ‘Destiny 2’ Needs A Loadout System - More than ever, Destiny 2 needs a loadout system, given where we are now with transmog and mods.
‘Destiny 2’ May Be Headed For A 5-8 Month Season 15, Or A Bonus One - The math just doesn’t make sense for Destiny’s next season, which either has to be extremely long or another bonus season is coming.

All the reactions!
And then some theorizing on what’s to come in the rest of this season of Destiny:

Well, Fireteam Chat is on indefinite hiatus but I still get to be on DCP sometimes!
And then, we have a certain corgi whose butt just got out of a bath:
See you soon!
Paul interesting update on indie game, The Last Night (2017 trailer) "What Happened to The Most Atmospheric Cyberpunk Pixel Art Game? The Last Night Update"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1vJKYHmtP4
The ultra-timely social criticism theme of the project is described. The last seconds of the update shows a Xmas 2020 "christmas card" showing off some of the evolved 2.5D tech this small team continues to evolve.
Paul, re Ubisoft Avatar, there may be a story if devs are willing to talk about what they learned from the first Avatar game. If the new game is Far Cry: Avatar, I won't be interested. What I prefer to see is Ubisoft give up re-making Far Cry over and over and with the Avatar project, attempt to make its first Horizon Zero Dawn game.
