God Rolls - Outriders Launch, Brutal Grandmaster, Cyberpunk Patch
It's Outriders release week baby
Alright, this is a big week for God Rolls considering a brand new game where you can get literal god rolls is finally here. That would be Outriders, which has consumed nearly all of my time since launch. Not just gaming time but also uh, life time. As such, there’s a ton to talk about this week.
What I’m Playing: Just an astonishing amount of Outriders. Getting level 40 drops on my main character now, hit level 19 on my alt. I tried the Destiny Proving Grounds GM and wanted to die after a full day so I think I give up. I have cut Genshin Impact from my rotation for now as I just don’t have time.
What I’m Watching: Invincible, which I’m starting to not like as much the more I watch it for some reason. Watching The Flash which may be in the worst era I’ve ever seen, but I have to see it through until the end. As I write this I’m halfway through The Walking Dead’s Here’s Negan episode which is quite good.
Alright, sub to the newsletter if you haven’t yet!
Time for the recap, and I’m giving Outriders an entire section all to itself this week:
Five Things I Wish I Knew When I Started ‘Outriders’ - I mean, you know I had to write one of these, and it’s turned out to be my most popular one in a very long time. Some good early advice for players, I hope.
‘Outriders’ Devs: Future Content Would Be ‘Significant Expansions With Self-Contained Stories’ - This was a long interview I got to do with the devs where I got them to talk about post-launch content, among other things.
So How Is The ‘Outriders’ Endgame Looking? - I’ve beaten the campaign and have been able to mess around in higher World Tiers and Expeditions a bit, so some thoughts on that.
‘Destiny 2’ Players Grapple With Proving Grounds, ‘The Hardest Nightfall Ever’ - Yes, yes, everyone has already told me they think The Corrupted and Glassway are harder, but this is pretty brutal.
Destiny 2's Grandmaster Nightfall Rewards Expose Massive Economy Flaws - Another Grandmaster take, in that no, I don’t think a 15 minute Arms Dealer GM run and an entire season of grinding Gambit should both give you one Ascendant Shard. Other sources need buffing.
Everything We Know About Destiny 2’s Guardian Games 2021 From Leaks - Here’s an early Guardian Games preview with a lot of info, but no story spoilers. It sounds better than last year.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Massive 1.2 Patch Notes Reinforce Just How Broken The Game Has Been - Cyberpunk finally released its 1.2 patch which is huge, and yet won’t change the experience for many people at this point.
Game Pass vs $70: The ‘MLB The Show’ Xbox Deal Is A Bad Look For Sony - One of the wildest stories of the week is Microsoft somehow snagging MLB The Show for Game Pass, a Sony-made game.
Six Months Later, ‘Genshin Impact’ Is The Most Alive-Feeling Live Service Game There Is - My take on why Genshin Impact has the most living, breathing video game world out there at the moment.
‘Monster Hunter Rise’ Is A Monster On Nintendo Switch, 4 Million Shipped In Three Days - Monster Hunter Rise is destroying series sales records on Switch, nearly moving as much as World did on two platforms.
Thoughts on Outriders from early in my play session near launch:
And then more thoughts later once I beat the campaign. Story spoilers halfway through, but I have a warning:
Some thoughts on why the Cyberpunk 2077 patch is just whatever, with some new police gameplay:
Was on Fireteam Chat with the full gang this week to talk Chosen:
Me and Destin talk about whether Cyberpunk and CDPR can earn reputation back:
Alright, and this week, I thought it was time for an ULTIMATE EVIE PUPPY FLASHBACK! I know many of you may not have been following when we first got her.
