The time has come, my first fashion contest results are here. I have to thank all of your for the *tremendous* response to this contest. I got way, way more entries than I ever thought I would, probably close to 1500. That has made picking a top 10 almost impossible so I expanded it to a top 30 just to feature more. Top three still get prizes.
As we know, fashion is subjective, and if I didn’t pick you, I’m sorry, and please don’t let that discourage you from future contests (there will be more!). Bungie is also doing their first fashion contest in forever right now, and I entered that one myself. If you signed up for this newsletter just for the fashion contest, I hope you consider sticking around for my weekly content round-up post on Sundays. And if you got here some other way, feel free to subscribe!
So, without further ado, here are the top 30 fashion contest winners, along with the top three on the podium. I will try to explain why I liked each of these so much. Substack is telling me you may have to click through to the actual blog page to load all the images because of Gmail restrictions, so you can find the full post here.
@bbbourb - I love that Warlock chest more than anything, and the texture/color decision here with the helmet pairing is on point.
@StromDexter - Loved the Vex look combined with some Trials gear, which you wouldn’t imagine would mesh, but it really does.
@LuchiGblock - The DSC armor is a known favorite of mine, and combined with these other pieces, this Warlock as a sort of “dark splicer” really works for me.
@ryam_nyan - A paramilitary Hunter look like that I loved. Halo ODST vibes.
@liumiare - Do you have any idea how hard it is to make a full “chonk” Titan look good? It’s nearly impossible, and yet this look pulls it off in my mind.
@xXx_Ulti_xXx - I’m reminded of an old quote about the X-Men movies and why they wore all black, because “yellow looks like shit onscreen.” Well, it takes a lot of work to pull yellow off, and when you do, you deserve credit.
@_SonOfAnders_ - I have always enjoyed playing around with the base Synthoceps glows, and they pair great with the celestial set here. Great look with nice accents.
@GamerGarb - A brilliant Scales entry with underwater “from the deep” vibes in a way that uses unusual shaders to illustrate a theme.
@slymarbo666 - I tried not to over-feature “dark hunters” in this list, but some of them are just too good to pass up, like this one.
@GarretMcCauley - Again, I’ve said I love my clear themes, and as hard as it might be to make neon green work, this Mantis Warlock is rad.
@VaesySmile - This is just a classy Hunter all around, subtle, and great use of color. And those legs look fantastic with this theme.
@MedwingSong - A lot of robot Titans out there (including a zillion Optimus Primes), but this was my favorite original version of the concept.
@pabmenezes - Such a great combination of pieces and shaders here for a unique look that’s unlike pretty much any other entries I saw.
@emm0ri - I got a lot of “no cloak” Hunters thanks to the new pieces this season, but this is a standout with a great use of exotic arms.
@blackstarryno4 - A couple different people made Star-Eater scales work (pre-nerf), and this was one of the highlights for me.
@Brina_x7 - I normally don’t like wild shots here, but the glow on the charged Star-Eaters here is great, and I love the ethereal look of this hunter.
@AFLUFFYRHINO - I really love this “workhorse tank” look for this Titan, a rare instance of making orange work.
@the_m1nty_fr3sh - You can run a risk when looks get too “busy,” but when you have a clear theme here (Hive Scholar) it can work extremely well. Note the weapon ornament as the cherry on top.
@georgetgish - If there was an award for most terrifying hunter, this may take it. Sometimes there’s something to be said about making your helmet pop under the cloak rather than making it dark with glowy eyes.
@HeckPizza818 - A beautiful use of texture and color here, combining a ton of different sets in a way that shouldn’t work, but does.
@NarakiMaul - I saw a lot of people going for old Warmind pieces in their set, but this is one of the cleanest looks I’ve seen using the chest as a base. Good weapon choice too.
@Copomi245 - Calus would be proud of this glorious Hunter using all manner of pieces to create a cohesive Egyptian god-like look.
@Helios_The_Man - This is one of my all-time favorite shaders and I love the idea of implementing the new seasonal armor into the “rusted” hero concept.
@Nightpiercer - Gorgeous, gorgeous use of Iron Banner armor, seasonal armor and an exotic. And the shader gives it some subtlety and draws it all together.
@twibkidx - I’ve seen a lot of astronaut looks in my day, but they’re usually on Titans, and this is just a stellar example on making it work on a DSC Warlock.
@ItsDrDemonic - I do love a good theme, and this not just being a “black and red” Hunter but a full-on spider sent this over the edge.
@carfrick - A beautiful use of color and an exotic that is hard to implement in a way that really shines. Gorgeous all around here.
@morton_na - I love this Dreaming City shader and these pieces are phenomenal in pulling off the chiseled marble look.
3rd Place: @Olokroth - A lot of knight designs out there for Titans, but this is the best one I’ve seen. The pieces, the shader, and the meta-relevant chestpiece, it all comes together brilliantly. I may have to steal this look for my own Titan.
2nd Place: @EragonVsGaming - In a sea of dark and mysterious cloaked hunters, this one really stood out to me and stayed with me, which is hard to pull off with so many entries. The simplicity is what makes it here.
1st Place: @dotcommwastaken - It is rare that a piece stopped me in my tracks when I was scrolling, and I knew this was a potential winner the moment I saw it. Gorgeous use of color, clean lines, and a Warlock, no less, where there’s usually less to play around with. Congrats to this look, which ended up being my ultimate favorite and the winner of my first fashion contest!
The Tom Holland Lifetime Achievement Prize: I couldn’t end this contest without featuring arguably the best transmogger in the game. A very special bonus shoutout to @Spidercides who has been doing some incredible work building superheroes with this system:

Alright, that’s all for now. Winners, I will be in touch, have your DMs open. I plan to do more of these in the future, and I thank you all for entering and making this a very fun week.
Nice ones! I was wondering if it's only me who is bothered bt the armor icon change? I mean is it duper hard to keep track what armor is what now, I don't have any visual clue, one I applied the decoration they all look the same... When I want to switch to different load out, it takes a lot more time. I wish they had left the standard icons untouched, with a tiny image on the corner to display the decoration....
This was really cool.
